Complaints About Our Services
At M by Mariah Legal, we are committed to providing excellent client service. If you experience any issues with our work, we aim to resolve them promptly and to your satisfaction. We encourage you to raise any concerns as soon as possible with the solicitor handling your case.
Initial Concerns
If you are unhappy with the service provided, please contact the solicitor managing your case or their supervisor. They will work with you to address your concerns, which may include arranging a call or meeting to discuss the matter.
Complaints Process
If your solicitor or their supervisor cannot resolve your complaint and you remain dissatisfied, you can escalate your concerns in the following ways:
- By email: enquiries@mbym-legal.com
- By telephone: 0345 319 2024, asking to speak with the Compliance Officer.
- By post: Complaints Team, M by Mariah Legal, 6 Richmond Terrace, Blackburn, BB1 7AT.
To assist us in handling your complaint efficiently, please provide your name, contact details, preferred method of contact, case file reference number, a clear description of your concerns and what you would like us to do to resolve the matter.
Upon receipt of your complaint, we will send you a written copy of our complaints procedure and confirm who will investigate your concerns. The Legal Ombudsman allows us up to eight weeks from receipt of your complaint to resolve the matter with you before you may escalate it further.
Complaints About Your Bill
If your complaint relates to a bill, you may have the right to object under Part III of the Solicitors Act 1974 by applying to the court for an assessment. Please note that if any part of the bill remains unpaid, we may be entitled to charge interest, as outlined in your client care letter.
Referrals to the Legal Ombudsman
If you are not satisfied with our handling of your complaint, you can refer the matter to the Legal Ombudsman. Complaints must normally be referred within one year of the act or omission you are concerned about, or the date you became aware of it, and within six months of our final response to you.
